  3. So you thing the education’s goal is only to prepare children to work in the design dpt instead of the shop floor? I think it is much more than that…
    Poor video, poor ideas.

  4. But children need guidance in distinguishing good references from trash on the internet…and what about trying to get resources which aren’t available online?

  5. But what is creativity, if you don’t know anything? I’ve also seen too emphasis on ‘being creative’. It sounds hazy and frankly, it doesn’t help. Being creative occurs within a domain of knowledge or artistic skill: it’s not a floating attribute that comes from the sky.

  6. Technology should not be touted as a cure-for-all in education if there is no evidence to back up the assertions. There’s too much hype over what computers and such like can do for the student.
“You can help a student think…but you can’t make them think.”

  8. Really really bad video. All you’ve done is copied the ‘Did you know’ videos and made your own bad edit.

  10. I don’t care how many college degrees you have our how many computers you put in the class room. Jobs will migrate with the lowest possible wage that also means people who have college degrees. LOL ! it’s a race to the bottom Robert Kiyosaki was dead on the nail when he said that more and more people competeing for less and less jobs that pay less less and less. Welcome to the global economy folks.

  11. Books are not for EVERYONE…
In schools area where the drop out rate is highest – build trade schools. Teach them Farming, Truck driving, Welding, Brick mason, ect … teach them a JOB!

  12. Interesting video.

Considering that today, most kids are “too lazy” to write proper English, I despair at what the world will come to in 20 years’ time.

  13. @englishforasians=Thanks, you maybe right..? But, Government shall
always have The Plans-Directions, for what is good Education for the future of American children..? Yet, I agreed with @staciejacobsen (2

  14. @louielamson2000 = or forget government and direct our own learning. Is Change & Technology going to slow down for government? Do we want to slow down for Govt. to change?

  15. @staciejacobsen – “learnt” is a word. It’s the past tense and past perfect of “learn”. Not everyone spells things the American way. FYI, no offence, I didn’t learn English spelling in school coz we only had 2 half hour foreign language lessons a week in elementary. But I can spell pretty OK.

  18. Jehovah The personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. Jehovah is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton, ????, which means He Causes to Become. These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH. 19. Sure, and in most non english speaking countries we learn foreign languages too.
And because we do so… we don’t strive for perfection..but I am sure you spell perfect spanish .Still or those american who don`t they should not worry .I can assure them we are far more rekaxed and thankful to people who make an effort to learn our native language as to go teaching them in youtube. Spelling mistakes and typing or grammar mistakes are different: prentends: typing one, learnt a grammar one.

  20. Not everything can be learned in school, but spelling can. (prentends = pretends, learnt is not a word, learned is)

  21. Outstanding video. What other industry could survive with a 30 to 50% failure (dropout) rate and still survive?

    Comment by jobmatch — March 26, 2009 @ 5:32 pm

  22. Basic thought we must teach our students is that learning happens everywhere and anytime. This is why dislike this video…since AGAIN prentends that all that is required to become a successful person, citizen, parent, professional..etc need to be learnt at school…

  23. Cool vid, It’s true that technology has revolutionized our lives but what if it all come crashing down? What happens then? Our kids today would be screwed if there was a solar storm that knocked out the telecommunication satellites and the electrical grids world-wide.

    Comment by upchuck69 — March 31, 2009 @ 3:25 am

  24. Yes, but I ask this. Should we be simply teaching students how to be an efficient, industrialised worker drone by turning their schooling into a technological based curriculum? Or should we be teaching them how to be a self actualised human by teaching them basic life skills and human values such as compassion, empathy, respect, conservation of the environment, the interconnectedness of life, basic mathematical and literacy skills, all of which you cannot rely on technology alone to teach.
